How to become an air hostess: the questions students ask
Plain answers to what students and parents ask most about cabin crew careers in India, from eligibility to the airline interview. Airlines set their own hiring rules, so we say where those differ from our course rules.
Eligibility
Who can become an air hostess
How do I become an air hostess after 12th?
Pass 12th in any stream, train on a cabin crew course, then apply when airlines recruit. Airlines hold their own tests, interviews and medical checks, and they decide who to hire. Our nine-month course prepares you for that selection.
Which stream do I need in 12th?
Any stream. Science or commerce is not required.
What percentage do I need in 12th?
Our course asks for a 12th pass and does not set a percentage. Some airlines state a minimum in their recruitment notice, so read the notice before you apply.
What is the age limit for an air hostess?
We take students aged 18 to 28 on our cabin crew course. Airlines set their own age limits and they differ.
What height do I need to become an air hostess?
It depends on the airline and the role, and some airlines test reach rather than height. Our eligibility guide explains the standards, and the admissions team confirms the current entry threshold.
Can boys become cabin crew?
Yes, with the same 12th pass and age range. Height and reach requirements vary by airline and role.
Can I become an air hostess after 10th?
No. Cabin crew training needs a 12th pass. If you are appearing for 12th this year, you can start counselling now and enrol once your result is out.
Are tattoos allowed for cabin crew?
Airlines usually ask that no tattoo shows when you are in uniform. Appearance standards are set by each airline, so ask us at counselling if you are unsure.
Training
The course, English and the interview
How long is the cabin crew course?
Nine months, full time, six days a week.
What will I learn on an air hostess course?
Cabin safety awareness, passenger service, emergency procedures, communication and professional presentation. Practical sessions use the cabin mock-up and the door trainer at our Khalapur centre.
Is English necessary to become an air hostess?
Yes. English is assessed at every airline interview, so we teach it as a full subject. In the first meeting we tell you honestly how far you are from the standard, and how long it takes.
Do airlines train cabin crew themselves?
Yes. Airlines give the crew they hire their own training before the first flight. A course before that prepares you for selection: English, grooming, service skills and interview practice. It does not replace the airline's training.
What happens if I am not selected by an airline?
You can ask us about further interview preparation, future recruitment and other courses that fit, such as airport ground staff.
Pay and jobs
Salary and what is promised
What is the starting salary of an air hostess?
₹35,000 to ₹45,000 a month, plus flying allowance, is the range published by IESP. The figures shown are indicative entry-level salaries, not guaranteed earnings.
Is a job guaranteed after the cabin crew course?
No. Completing the course gives you training. Airlines make their own selection decisions.
Ground staff or cabin crew: which should I choose?
Ground roles hire in far larger numbers and take less time to train for. Cabin crew has the hardest entry standards, set by the airline, including height. We will tell you honestly which one fits you at the first meeting.
